Dead Space 2 Remake Plans Allegedly Canceled Amid Commercial Concerns
The plan to remake Dead Space 2 is reported to have been canceled following the lackluster commercial performance of the first Dead Space remake. This information was shared by Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, discussing current projects at developer studio Motive, following EA’s transformation of the studio into a larger part of the Battlefield development group.
He stated, “They were working on Dead Space 2, but that project isn’t happening anymore. It’s been canceled because the first game underperformed, according to my sources.”
In response to these rumors, an EA spokesperson shared, “We typically don’t comment on rumors, but this story isn’t true.
Insights into EA’s Dead Space Plans: Conflicting Reports and Studio Developments
In a previous response to EA’s comments, Grubb maintained his stance, stating, “You can believe EA if you want, but whenever a company says ‘that’s not true,’ they rarely specify exactly what part of the story they’re denying.
“Dead Space 2 was definitely in the works. It had a codename. And now they’re not developing it anymore.”
On the other hand, according to Bloomberg’s sources shared by journalist Jason Schreier, Motive actually intended to create a completely new Dead Space game, but as Jeff Grubb’s story suggests, EA has indeed scrapped these plans.
Currently, Motive Studio has been integrated by EA into the development team for the next Battlefield game, collaborating with studios like DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect.
